What’s in a name?
Ever wondered why Charlotte in Red is called Charlotte in Red?
Truth be told, we love the colour red. Red stands for action and energy, for passion and power.
Red is never boring, and, as Audrey Hepburn said, “There is a shade of red for every woman”.
But colour was not our starting point.
What we were looking for was a name that would convey a sense of strength, of female empowerment. And at the same time we also wanted a reference to Luxembourg, where our project is anchored. The brainstorming exercise didn’t take very long.
The emblematic figure of Charlotte, former Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, quickly established herself, and so did the so-called Red Bridge, named after the Grand Duchess, and one of Luxembourg’s most photographed landmarks.
And voilà… Charlotte in Red was born, a project which aims at building bridges between the world of arts and UN’s sustainable development goals.
